Anna Scholes

Elected to the Board in 2018, Anna was born to immigrant parents in Johnstown, PA, attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy, then worked in sales and marketing for 10 years for Eli Lilly & Company. She married Twin Falls native Chris Scholes and moved to Idaho in 1997. She has been an active member of the Magic Valley community and is currently involved in Twin Falls Optimist Club, Twin Falls Optimist Youth House and the Twin Falls School District Education Foundation Board. She has served in various roles for the Boys and Girls Club of Magic Valley, local PTAs and Booster Clubs, and has been involved in many local fundraising campaigns. She was co-chairperson of the Citizens for the Twin Falls School District Bond Levy (2014). She has been an adjunct pharmacology instructor at CSI for several years and continues to work part-time as a community pharmacist. Anna and Chris have 2 adult children.

Mr. Laird Stone

Elected to the board in 2012, Laird was born and raised in Gooding. He received a bachelor’s
degree in Marketing and a Juris Doctorate in Law from the University of Idaho. He was a
member of the Idaho State Board of Education from 2001-2008. His community involvement
includes El Korah Shrine, Shrine High School All Star Football, recipient of a Twin Falls
Chamber of Commerce Lifetime Achievement Award and an Extra Mile Award, Mason’s and
Kiwanis. He is a past State Bar Commissioner and President. He has served on numerous
educational committees for the Governor and University of Idaho. Laird is a partner in the law
firm Stephan, Kvanvig, Stone & Trainor. He is a strong supporter of the community college and
the dual credit systems.

 

 

 

Joshua Kern

Dr. Kern was appointed to the vacant board position in 2023 and was elected to the seat in 2024. He did his college and medical education at the University of Washington and came to Idaho in 2005 to complete his residency training and he and his wife fell in love with the state. He has lived in Jerome since 2008 where he continues to practice medicine at St. Luke’s Jerome. He also serves in two leadership roles within St. Lukes – serving as both the Chief Medical Officer for the Magic Valley, Jerome and Wood River hospitals and as the program director for the Magic Valley Rural Residency Program. He graduated from the Boise State University’s executive MBA program in 2021. He has served on several boards in the community, including on the CSI Foundation Board. Dr. Kern also helped start Renew Coffee Shop in Jerome. He was awarded the 2020 Person of Year by the Twin Falls Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Kern says, “I love the mission of CSI and am delighted to be serving in this role. Zone 3 has a lot of activity with CSI right now and remains a critical partner with the community of Jerome. It is exciting to be in this role during the time that CSI is building a new building in Jerome and developing its new soccer teams which play in Jerome. I continue to feel that education and local colleges can have an outsized impact on creating the workforce that communities like the Magic Valley need.”

Jan Mittleider

Jan, a retired Â鶹¾«Æ· educator, was elected to the Board in 2012 after a long career where she served as the first volleyball coach, a community wellness advocate and a champion for active aging programs, including the Over 60 and Getting Fit program. She is active in community, most recently as the co-founder and workshop trainer for the Fit and Fall Proof program, a statewide program for peer leaders, the Idaho Commission for the Arts and the Magic Valley Arts Council. As an avid photographer, Jan packs a camera wherever she goes…from her experiences as a world traveler to hiking the Snake River Canyon. Her current photos celebrate the nature around the area and appear in her photo card C.A.R.E. series. Jan, a native Idahoan, has three children-Christy, Eric and Kirk-and six grandchildren whom she shares with her husband Leon Smith. “I love the mission of the community college,” she says, “ and the opportunity to impact every stage of life from the cradle to the grave.”

Scott McClure

Jerome native Scott McClure has served on the Board since 2018 and was most recently reelected in 2024. He attended Idaho State University, where he served as Student Body President. McClure graduated from ISU in General Engineering before accepting a commission into the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served and reached the rank of captain. While at ISU, McClure also met his wife, Claire. They have three children: Robert, Teri and Traci.

Following his service in the Marine Corps, McClure worked as a plant engineer for U and I Sugar, before returning to the Magic Valley to open McClure Engineering, a consulting engineering firm that provides services in structural, mechanical, and industrial engineering. Throughout his engineering career, he has served as President of the Idaho Society of Professional Engineers and as Chairman of the Consulting Engineers of Idaho. McClure also served on the Idaho Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors for ten years. He has been awarded the Outstanding Engineer of the Year award by the Idaho Society of Professional Engineers, and the Idaho Business Leader of the Year award by the AKPsi Business Fraternity at Idaho State University. McClure is licensed as a professional engineer in four states. McClure states: "I enjoy serving on the CSI Board because the College serves such a valuable function in the Magic Valley. It is a bridge between high school and a technical and/or academic career. We need to make sure that bridge is as strong, secure, and affordable as possible while striving for excellence in all fields."
